Vladimir Camilo Pimentel Florenzán

Interim Executive Director of the Export and Investment Center of the Dominican Republic (ProDominicana)

Economist with over 25 years of experience in economic studies, research, and market intelligence, with emphasis on economics and international business.

Studies

Graduate of the Dominican College De La Salle.

Economist from the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD).

Master's in Corporate Finance from the Technological Institute of Santo Domingo (INTEC).

Master's in Social Processes and Economic Policies from the University of the Basque Country (UPV).

Diploma in Trade Policy Analysis and Formulation (INTEC).

Diploma in International Trade (PUCMM/ADOEXPO).

Diploma in International Organizations from the London School of Economics and Political Sciences (LSE).

Experience

Joined ProDominicana in 2016 as Director of the Foreign Trade and Innovation Institute (ICEI). In 2017, he held the positions of Director of Intelligence and, later, Director of Business (2017-2018).

In 2020, he was appointed advisor to the Executive Directorate, from where he coordinates the implementation of the National Export Promotion Plan (PNFE). During the first five years of the plan's execution, 93% of the measures planned for the ten-year period were achieved.

In 2021, he assumed the direction of the Market Intelligence Department, leading the generation of strategic information to drive the internationalization of Dominican companies.

Since 2023, he serves as Deputy Director General of ProDominicana, through Decree No. 262-23, supporting the institution's strategic direction, representing it in councils and inter-institutional spaces, and chairing internal committees on behalf of the Executive Directorate. He currently serves as Interim Executive Director of ProDominicana.

In academia, he was Director of the School of Economics at the Technological Institute of Santo Domingo (INTEC) and Director of the Center for Government, Business, and Society (CEGES). He also coordinated the International Business Concentration at the Pontifical Catholic University Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) and the PUCMM Research Unit.

He has been a professor at undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as a thesis advisor and evaluator at various higher education institutions, including PUCMM, INTEC, UASD, UTESA, ProDominicana Institute, ITLA, UCSD, and INESDYC.

He served as an economist in the Technical Directorate of the Superintendency of Health and Occupational Risks (SISALRIL), collaborating with the National Health Accounts Unit of the Secretary of State for Health.

He was an analyst in the Directorate of Foreign Trade and Trade Agreement Administration (DICOEX) of the then Ministry of Industry and Commerce (2008-2011), and later Deputy Director of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) in Santo Domingo (2011-2013).

He has served as consultant and advisor for international organizations such as Caribbean Export, International Trade Centre (ITC), UNDP, UNCTAD, and KOTRA. He currently advises the Dominican Association of International Business Professionals (ADOPNIA).

He has coordinated and participated in business meetings, training programs, conferences, trade missions, and congresses in countries across Africa, Central America, South America, North America, Europe, and Asia. Additionally, he has a 30-year track record as a martial arts instructor.
